Tokyo Mew Mew New will make its return next year.
Announced today, a second season of the anime series will arrive in April 2023. The show recently finished its first season with its season finale today. An announcement trailer for season two can be seen below.
Tokyo Mew Mew New is a new anime adaptation of the manga series Tokyo Mew Mew, which was created and written by Reiko Yoshida with illustrations by Mia Ikumi. The first season was directed by Takahiro Natori, who is best known for their work in La Corda D’Oro Blue Sky. Music for the show was done by beloved composer Yasuharu Takanashi, who has worked on titles such as Halo Legends, Log Horizon, and Naruto. The script was written by Yuka Yamada, who previously worked on Recovery of an MMO Junkie, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, and Wataten! An Angel Flew Down to Me. Animation studios Yumeta Company. (Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, Cannon Busters) and graphinica (Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal, Record of Ragnarok) worked on the visuals.
Voice talent from the show perform music together as the idol group Smewthie, who performed the anime series’ opening and closing themes. On January 18, Smewthie will unveil a special three-song CD. In March 2023, the act will have a live performance. More information can be found here.

The scientists of the μ(Mew) Project use DNA of endangered species to create a team of heroines imbued with amazing super-human abilities. One of them, Ichigo Momomiya, awakens to discover she is armed with all the skills of a Iriomote cat. Ichigo must band together with other Mew Mew girls to repel an alien incursion, all the while hiding their thrilling double lives from friends and family.
