Your guide to Gran Turismo 7's Daily Races, w/c 5th September: Kart craft

This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races feature karts at Maggiore, Gr.3s at Dragon Trail and Gr.4s at Sardegna.

Gran Turismo 7‘s Daily Races start on a slightly different footing this week, as we revisit the purest form of motorsport – karting. We delve into the hot seat of GT7’s 125cc Shifter Kart, with Gr.3 and Gr.4 races to complete the schedule.

Balance of Performance (BoP) is under the spotlight once again, with the Gr.3 and Gr.4 classes throwing up some old favourites in terms of car choices.

As a reminder, we are now using GT7‘s new Balance of Performance (BoP) system, introduced in the v1.19 July update. BoP is now split into three categories depending on the type of track used: High-speed (H), Mid-speed (M) and Low-speed (L).

As of the 30th of May, Race A will not affect players’ Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR). This means it’s ideal for newcomers to online racing, or those simply unwilling to risk their hard-fought DR and SR

RACE A

Your guide to Gran Turismo 7's Daily Races, w/c 5th September: Kart craft

We revisit the Maggiore circuit for Race A and a pulsating slipstream battle with the Racing Kart 125 Shifter. These karts mimic the real-world versions used by most of the Formula 1 grid from an early age, their simplicity being the ideal way to hone racing skills.

The Racing Kart is also the cheapest vehicle in the game at 10,000 Credits, so buying it multiple times is the easiest way of completing the ‘Firm Favorite’ trophy, unlocked when you purchase the same vehicle 10 times.
With a lot of track real estate to play with, the key to going fast in Race A is to use smooth steering inputs while using as much of the circuit as possible. Aim to make fewer mistakes than your opponents, as losing momentum in these underpowered 49bhp karts spells disaster.

Race B

Race B is for Gr.3 cars, and again we return to the fictional Croatian Dragon Trail circuit. At times it feels like we visit the likes of Maggiore and Dragon Trail too often in GT7’s Daily Races, but at the very least both venues have multiple configurations to keep things interesting.

In Race B’s case, we use the Reverse Seaside layout, with its stunning backdrops. In terms of cars, the pick of the bunch is the Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept ’18, which returns to the top of the Gr.3 pile again.

Although it’s a concept vehicle, Toyota is planning to produce a similar race car version of the Supra to compete in GT3 series worldwide, complementing the GT4 version of the same car.

Race B uses the Mid-speed (M) BoP format.

Race C

This week, Race C is a Gr.4 event. These races have been dominated by four-wheel-drive cars from the outset of GT7’s Daily Races, and it’s a similar story this time round.

The Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI from GT7’s Legend Cars dealership is proving to be the quickest car for the job, but with 2x Fuel Consumption and 5x Tyre wear you’ll have to be careful to avoid wheelspin on Sardegna’s tyre-shredding bends.

It’s just a shame the Alfa’s in-game sounds aren’t a patch on the real thing…
Race C uses the Mid-speed (M) BoP format.
